Fall has sashayed into NYC with a vengeance! Despite most people bemoaning the end of barbecues and beach trips, I am sosososo glad. Basically, if you like clothes, fall is your season. Its doubly pleasurable to me that summer is over because I'm sitting here with about a zillion bug bites covering my soon-to-be-tanless legs! As a result, browsing online for skin-hiding over-the-knee boots, which brings me into my next obsesh...

Today was one of those sticky hot NYC days that makes you happy to be on the subway, just because its air conditioned. I was in SoHo for a meeting and it sort of made me miss working there. So much style (in between the dazed Italian tourists with fanny packs. I don't know why I'm picking on Italians, since it seems all tourists in SoHo are dazed and fanny-pack-clad). I walked up West Broadway to Starbucks and saw that a lot of the stores had closed- Big Drop, Detour, some others, and all were on sale. It so depressing, this recession, especially in the fashion corners of the world. I pride my greedy self in stimulating the economy and the fashion industry as much as I can afford to!
I read this article in Time and as someone who works in retail, I was totally appalled. Haggling?! in STORES? FOR CLOTHES (or in the article, bacon!)?!?! I'm sorry, I know times are tough. But seriously? I have definitely had people ferociously attempt to haggle with me. "Are you suuuuuuuure this is $____? What if I buy two of them? Are they stiiiiiiiill that much?". Please, this ain't Chinatown, honey. We aren't haggling over 2 for 1 "I Heart NY" t-shirts; these are 200 dollar boots that are not on sale! It makes me feel all funny to have to repeat 5-6 times that no, I cannot give you a deal on those. I mean, I know you are a special snowflake, but those shoes are priced as marked! Not to mention that people of late feel enTITLED to a discount, as if we owe them that much because our clothes are expensive. All I'm saying is that retailers are struggling, too. Perhaps if I was the owner I could hand out 10% discounts like candy (which he definitely would not!), but now right now. Anyway, I just had to rant that out. What do you think? Would you haggle? In a boutique? In a grocery store? Exhilarating or downright humiliating? Tell me what you think!

So, uninspired but the gray chilly weather, I have been delinquent in my blogging habits. But, I'm baaack! A couple of weekends ago, my friend B. and I went shopping at the Brooklyn Flea. I scored majorly on a batik top and a jumpsuit. A very 80's purple washed-cotton jumpsuit. It is probably the find of my life. Photos. Soon.
Meanwhile, for the hubs' b-day, I needed a new birthday outfit. I of course headed to Dear Fieldbinder and sharked up this floral number by MINKPINK, an Australian company that makes adorable and very reasonably priced frocks:
I am enraged that Urban Outfitters is now carrying this, even as an online exclusive! Ugh now every NYU undergrad will be sporting this at Santos Party House before I know it. At least I have the satisfaction having bought it first and also for ten dollars less than the Man (UO) is charging for it!
Anyway, I wore it with something similar to this jacket:

Hello dear readers,
This silly gray weather has put a damper on my greed! I need spring, and I need it now. I also need BLAZERS!
I use my weekly bank run at work to stop into one of my favorite Brooklyn boutiques, Dear Fieldbinder. I am very susceptible for this store, so sometimes, I don't even walk past for fear of weakness (and credit card debt). They carry an assortment of brands such as Madison Marcus, Charlotte Ronson, Corey Lynn Calter, Ted Baker, and more. I AM GREEDY FOR IT! I have many really great pieces from there, such as this oversized silk shirt with OWLS (!) all over it by Corey Lynn Calter. OWLS!!! OWL SHIRT!!! Whew, sorry, just had a small owl attack.
Anyway, where were we? Oh yes, BLAZERS. They look so great with boyfriend jeans, ripped up denim of all varieties, dresses, shorts...its the perfect spring jacket! I found a great one at Zara that is easy on the eyes and the wallet. But I wear it so much, I'm already on the lookout for more. Well, at Dear Fieldbinder, I spotted this Lauren Moffat boyfriend blazer:

Let's just get it out in the open. I'm a little on the greedy side. I covet, I crave, and I yearn. I'm greedy for fashion and good design. I work in fashion (by way of retail) and spend all day, every day, surrounded by fashion, thinking about trends, and stalking it all for myself. I'm going to use this blog as an outlet to share what I'm looking at and WHAT I'M GREEDY FOR! So, lets get to it!
What I'm Looking at:
For some insane reason, all I could look at today was The Enemy...bathing suits. Every once in awhile I would look up from the computer screen and out into the 10 inches of snow covering Brooklyn and sigh. The cold weather is really wearing me down, people! But, don't worry, there is hope. As in, hopefully I will be sporting one of these cute little numbers in the coming months. I'm loving the retro, forties pin up style suits. More bum coverage, please! Better start workin' on my fitness...
