First off, Fashion's Night Out was fun and seemed like a great success! For those in other parts of the country, it was a night designed to stimulate the fashion industry/retail and bring awareness to the importance it has on the NYC economy (its the #2 industry here and generates $10 billion a year). It was also the kick-off of NY Fashion Week! I made my way into SoHo and the street was teeming with fashionable people. I stopped into a few stores, glugged some free champagne, and people watched.
My only really good sighting was of Roberto Cavalli, holding court at Cipriani downtown and guzzling bottles of red wine while wearing sunglasses...at night. The black town cars were circling SoHo like sharks, waiting for all the celebrities who were making appearances that night. Flash was going off on every corner and models scurried around from store to storee. I meant to go to Opening Ceremony's trunk show, but the night was young, so to bars we went. A good time was had by all and I am oh-so-glad I had the next day off! Usually, I have at least one friend enslaved as an intern to a designer and I manage to claw my way into a show, but alas, not this year. But hey, I can still stalk/be greedy without being there in the flesh! Thanks to Style.com, I can stalk all the designers I am obsessed with without actually being at their shows. Here are some of my picks.
Charlotte Ronson RTW Spring 2010
Alexander Wang RTW Spring 2010
These sunglasses are a collabo with Linda Farrow, who has done sunglasses for the likes of Luella Bartley, Dries von Noten, and others. I'm drop dead serious that I will have these, by hook or by crook! They do have a whiff of Marc Jacobs about them, too:
Erin Wasson x RVCA
Rag and Bone RTW Spring 2010
There is sooo much more than that but I am tired of copying and pasting right this minute...more later! G'night
