For some reason, we decided that a disgustingly rainy Saturday would be a great time to brave the hordes and check out Topshop. My sister and her boyfriend accompanied me down to SoHo, hoping that the rain had scared off other potential shoppers. Lo and behold...a line to get in! What?! Seriously? Anyway, determined to see what the hype is about, we perservered. Once inside, we began our journey...of waiting in more lines! Lines in the fitting room, lines to pay, argh.
One bit of drama happened while we were there, though. As we were taking the escalator to the 2nd floor, I turned to my friends and said, "do you smell burning?!" Right as we arrived at the top, smoke started billowing out of the escalator and the fire alarms went off. Exasperated shoppers with armfuls of clothes looked around in dismay while Topshop personnel scurried around. I was going to be super pissed if we have to evacuate right after waiting in line. Luckily, no one had to abandon the fruits of their shopping and we were just left to deal with a burnt rubber smell on the 2nd floor.
The verdict: more expensive than I would like and super crowded. I did score an excellent jacket and a sequined top, while spending far too much money for them. I have shopped at Topshop in other countries numerous times and never thought anything of it, but when the currency is your own dollar, you realize whats up.
My sis, Ellen of EllenFork.com fame, brought her camera so we decided to take advantage of the clouds clearing up and have a Topshop photo shoot on the roof!
