So, uninspired but the gray chilly weather, I have been delinquent in my blogging habits. But, I'm baaack! A couple of weekends ago, my friend B. and I went shopping at the Brooklyn Flea. I scored majorly on a batik top and a jumpsuit. A very 80's purple washed-cotton jumpsuit. It is probably the find of my life. Photos. Soon.
Meanwhile, for the hubs' b-day, I needed a new birthday outfit. I of course headed to Dear Fieldbinder and sharked up this floral number by MINKPINK, an Australian company that makes adorable and very reasonably priced frocks:
I am enraged that Urban Outfitters is now carrying this, even as an online exclusive! Ugh now every NYU undergrad will be sporting this at Santos Party House before I know it. At least I have the satisfaction having bought it first and also for ten dollars less than the Man (UO) is charging for it!
Anyway, I wore it with something similar to this jacket:
Lets just ignore the fact that this model is wearing tights that are not completely opaque. Ick and Ack and EW! Whoever styled this on the Forever21.com site was clearly late to catch a train on a Friday or something because this nastiness flew under the radar. Harumph.
The party was fun and a
fabulous cake in the shape of TN (which matches the hubs' tattoo, heh) was made by dear friends and then devoured mercilessly. The next day, I was miraculously not hungover and we went on a birthday shopping spree for him! After
Dumont burgers and bloody marys, we did a little shopping in Williamsburg and stopped into Oak, which was sweltering. Got these for D. and he wore them out (it was 90 or so degrees). DISCLAIMER: Those are not his legs!
And then a stop into Shoe Market on Bedford and North 6th for these, the first pair of men's shoes EVER by Jeffrey Campbell which he
also wore out of the store:
I love these. I was actually wearing a pair of Jeffrey Campbell's from last summer that are SO AWESOME that they have been brought back this summer! I'm not gonna lie...we looked a little doofy walking around together wearing these VERY similar shoes...le sigh. WE ARE COOL. Couple fashion, bringin' it back! Whatevs, probably not a first on Bedford Ave.
I reccomend these
so very highly. I almost want another pair... But, so greedy for other things, such as these:
Also, just for discussion purposes. I saw a girl wearing these in the coffee shop on my block in Bushwick (a GREAT place for people watching. I have literally seen it all come through there in the morning. Even the nuttiest nutballs need coffee to function in the morning. This should be a separate post altogether!). The crazy, mind-blowing, soul-crushing thing about this is...they looked cute! Even though they appear to be just a younger, cooler cousin of the
UGLIEST SHOES IN THE WORLD! Sometimes, these things cannot be explained. BEHOLD.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
